[30] Power

Verses
Acts 1:8
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Matthew 6:24
24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Message
Our power as Children of God  comes from the Holy Ghost; the world on the other hand who don't have the Holy Ghost have Mammon as their power source. We as children of God, can't have the fullness of God or experience His ultimate power if we yearn for Mammon's power. We can't serve the two. Many people have lost their anointing because they begun to seek power from Mammon.

I am sure you would agree with me that, without money the richest man or woman in this world will be nobody. He or she would just have been another smart kid (like many are) walking about, trying to find their purpose in life. In the same way, without the Holy Ghost we would be nothing. Mammon can give us worldly power (power based on having the things of things world in abundance- 1 John 2:15-16), but only the Holy Ghost can give all power- all power in Heaven and on earth.

And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. 7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.(Luke 4:5-7)

Satan can give us His worldly power (which is less than the ultimate power source) when we walk by the flesh but he can't give us all power.

The world thinks (and you will soon understand why) the body of Christ is full of broke people, with frustrations and problems that are as big as a person who has never ever heard a sermon preached-simply put, unbelievers and believers are all being heavily oppressed by Satan and are all in bondage to sin. There is no difference between most "church folk" and unbelievers because they have the same power source-they all think mammon can solve their problems: problems that came about because they made mammon their power source .

9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.(1 Corinthians 2:9)

We (the body of Christ) have a purpose, a big purpose that cannot be explained or summed up in any book-No eye has seen. There is so much to do on this earth; there are so many industries that haven't been discovered: industries that would blow our minds. The Holy Ghost is here to show us things that haven't been seen nor heard; He is here to give us a new purpose. A purpose that requires power- the power (the Spirit of God) that was hovering over the surface of the waters (the Word) before the Father said "let there be light". The Father is ready to say "let there be...." that's why He sent His Holy Spirit and that's why we were born of water (by the word of God). The Father is ready, but are you?

10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.(Matthew 6:10)

Pray to God for your purpose: for something unique, something beyond human reasoning and understanding that requires faith and supernatural power; and work with the Holy Ghost to make that dreams come true.

Bonus
But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one: 10 To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God. 11 And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries. 12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. 13 Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done. 14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: 15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: 16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) 17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. 18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles 'hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money, 19 Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost. 20 But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money. (Acts 8:9-20)

What made Simon leave his sorcery (which he once used to bewitch a whole city) behind?

Simon saw power, power beyond what the world or Satan could give to him; he saw it, loved it and even wanted to buy it...

Have you seen this power, do you want this power? Ask God for the gift of His Holy Ghost, because your purpose depends on Him.

Amen

Ask|Me

Today freedomdevotional.com is rolling out a new product called Ask|Me. The story behind Ask Me In October of 2010, I went over to a pastor friend's house. Actually he was a friend to my parents. I went with a lot of questions on my mind. At the time, I was being battered by a lot of temptations and I needed to know: 1) What would have happened to my soul if I fell and 2) The best way to flee from a major temptation that was awaiting me... When I got to his place however, I couldn't ask him my questions; I was scared he would condemn me or tell my parents about my personal struggles (which I had kept secret for years.) I went back home with my questions, and as you guessed it, the temptation caught up with and over took me. I believe many people like me a while back, have similar questions and are scared of asking anyone for the fear of being condemned and so forth. This is why this product was created: for you. Verses 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are. Message 1) How can a person defile this temple?  Ans: Through the works of the flesh found in Galatians 5:19-21. 2) How will God destroy any man or woman  who defiles His (God's) temple? Ans: They will not inherit the Kingdom of God as we told in Galatians 5:21, but the lake of fire as we are told in Revelations 21:8, Revelations 20:15, Matthew 18:8-9 (and many other places). 19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things sh

Like Jesus

Verse John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. Message Jesus said, "He that believeth on me, the works that i do shall he do also." Pause! How on earth are we going to do His mighty works, if we do not have the same resources He had? Actually we do. Jesus made the final provision or resource available to all of us on the day of Pentecost. On that day, He sent the Holy Ghost. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. ( Acts 1:8 ) We have all been given a ministry of reconciliation. A ministry that is birthed after the born again experience. This is confirmed in 2 Corinthians 5:17-20,  " Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away;
