The Simple Gospel

Verses 1 Timothy 1:5-7 Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned: 6 From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling; 7 Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm. Message The gospel is so simple that the devil wants to and has complicated it. From the introduction of strange names of demons into the church; to the farrago of doctrines that make us feel devilish every time we fail to live by them; to teachings that are so confusing that, even the preachers, as Paul said, don't understand what they themselves preach. Paul also stated in Colossians 2:18-23 that, many things that were and are being introduced into the body of Christ, do nothing to stop us from indulging in the flesh. So what is the gospel all about? The gospel is a revelation of the person who would enable us to do the things that only God can do: Jesus Christ. In Ga...

Looking for God

Verse James 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you... Message Many people are looking for God, but when they find Him or are close to meeting Him, they turn away; their decisions are usually based on preconceptions of who He is. People want to worship a supreme being or a god who can offer them all their needs in this life: power, peace and everything they lack. People want a god they can have a relationship with. We all yearn for a Godly Father because, at one point in time or another we felt like spiritual orphans being battered by the cares of life, which took advantage of us because we were all alone. Spiritual orphans jump from temple to temple, church to church or any other place of worship in search of something or someone real. They are looking for God, and He is right around them, waiting for them to draw close to Him: to understand why He sent His Son Jesus, so that they can receive everything in Him. Amen

[15] Itchy Ears

Verses 2 Timothy 4:3-4 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. Message What type of sermons do you like to hear when you go to church? Do you love to hear things like:You are going to be a billionaire someday; or your boss is going to propose to you after he leaves his wife; or your next door  neighbour is involved in so-and-so; or maybe the names of demons and how they operate or worldly things that make us carnal. Are these the kind of things you like or want to hear? Do you love to hear half-truths like: God wants to bless you, your "miracle" is in the pipeline and so on. Do you love information that makes you love the things of the world?  You see, once you begin to move away from the TRUTH; once you start seeking answers which are not biblical; once you begin to...

[24] False Alarms

Verses 2 Peter 3:3-4 3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, 4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. Message We all (or maybe some of us) heard that the world was going to end on and on 11/11/11 . This however isn't the first time such false alarms have gone off. There have been various cults groups in the past, who have deceived and killed many people with this same 'end of the world' false alarm—won't get into that now. The question is why? Why the false alarms? Who is behind these false alarms? And are there going to be more false alarms? Yes, there are going to be more; the scoffers we read about in the scripture are the children of the devil, the tares amongst the wheat, who being carnal (not understanding the things of God) have been sent out "to cry wolf". The devil kn...

[34] Signs and Wonders (Part Two)

Verses 1 Kings 18:36-39 36 And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word. 37 Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the Lord God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again. 38 Then the fire of the Lord fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench. 39 And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The Lord, he is the God; the Lord, he is the God. Message The great sign and wonder God performed that day through Elijah, was to show the people that He and only He was, is and will always be the one and only true God. That is one of the reasons why God gives us the gift of the Holy Spirit; the power...

[35] Doctrines of devils

Verse 1 Timothy 4:1 1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Message Call them false religions, call them Christian cults, call them whatever you want to call them.  We can argue all day, or till kingdom come about the authenticity of some churches and their doctrines; and we will never know the truth unless we ask ourselves two important questions.  1) What are doctrines of devils or what makes a doctrine, one of the devil? 2) What will make some people depart from the faith? Let me ask you a question: if the devil was standing in the pulpit, what kinds of sermons will he preach? What types of doctrines will he bring into the church? This may sound strange but think about it, if the prince of the power of the air (See Ephesians 2:2) was working in a person, what would that person preach? Ans: Doctrines that will keep members carnal, and that can l...
