The Anger Trap

Peter said in 1 Peter 5:8 (NLT), "Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour." The question is, how does he plan on devouring us. It's simple, he would do everything he can to make us angry.Why? Because as we are told in Ephesians 4:26-27, our anger can give the devil a foothold. 

"Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy."Be on the look out for little things that will make you angry today. Anger can be ignited when that person you "love" doesn't love you back and worse of all, treats you like a nobody. Anger can be ignited when someone treats you like or calls you a loser. Anger can be ignited when the people you love do not support your dreams. Anger can be ignited in many ways. But at the end of the day, all the devil wants to do is to have a foothold in our lives so that he can lead us to do things we would regret later in life.

We make the worse decisions when we are mad... E.g cheating on people we love, committing murder, cursing or hurling foul words at people, destroying stuff et ceterra. That's why we are told in Ephesians 4:26-27 "And don’t sin by letting anger control you. Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a foothold to the devil."

Verse Matthew 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Message For many, the desire to quit an addiction fluctuates like a thermostat. At one point in time, these individuals feel like quitting. However, when the guilt they feel after falling into temptation subsides, they once again wrestle with, and fall back into the same old temptations: indulging in the very things they wanted to quit. The question is, why the inconsistency? Why are we hungry for righteousness at one point in time, and for unrighteousness at another?
