[27] The Grace


Verse
14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen. (2 Corinthians 13:14)


Message
Have you ever said this after praying before? The grace as we usually call it, is said after prayers in group settings. The question however is, what does “the grace” mean, and what does it do for us?


His grace helps us in our weaknesses. His grace keeps us strong even when we are weak—His grace is our strength when we are weak. When we are totally weak (that is, when we know that we will beyond doubt fall back into sin) His grace will be there to keep us strong (kind of like a spiritual energy booster).  His grace helps us to overcome our weaknesses. (2 Corinthians 12:9). It’s all about our weaknesses.


His love helps us to love our neighbours as God loves us. His love is what pushes us to fulfil His commission—without His Love, we will all live selfish lives not caring about people in bondage to sin and Satan. Perfect love casts out all fears—when our love is perfected, we won't be afraid of the people we have to been called to save but rather have compassion for them (just like Jesus had compassion on us- Acts 10:38). It’s all about loving people and fulfilling the great commission (Mark 16:15).


The Holy Ghost is our helper, the one we are to follow on this earth. He is the overall commander of the great commission. He guides us, teaches us, protects us; He also shows us things to come and more. Without Him we can't do anything. That’s why we are to have communion (or sweet fellowship) with Him. He is all about power and direction. He comes upon us to empower us (when the light turns green), without him we will just be mere men —we have no power of our own. That’s why Jesus told the apostles to wait for Him (Acts 1:8)


Samson had the Spirit but He didn't have the grace that’s why he fell for and was destroyed by Delilah and the others. David had the Spirit but not the grace at the time Bathsheba enticed him. The early church had His grace and they communed with the Holy Ghost but because they lacked His Love , they quarrelled amongst each other and ended up dividing the church. That’s why Paul said “without love I am nothing” (1 Corinthians 13:1-3). Jesus brought the Grace of God down to this earth. Those under the law didn't have the grace , they were still under the power of sin and that’s why Samson fell (because he was under the law). When you realize that temptations you once overcame are getting stronger; when you realize that you God-given purpose is becoming a burden, then you have lost His grace and you need to humble yourself to get His grace back.


When you realize that you find it hard to love people; when you find yourself fighting denominational and religious wars; when you find yourself quarrelling and judging people who are still in bondage to Satan, then you have no love. It means you are beginning to love the things of the world more than God and you need to ask Him for a solution.


When you find yourself becoming carnal minded (when the things of God start becoming meaningless to you), then it’s a clear sign (but not the only sign) that you are not having communion with the Holy Ghost.


The grace of God, the love of God and the Holy Ghost work together to help us accomplish what we have been called to do.  God has given us a Spirit (His Spirit of ) POWER, LOVE AND of A SOUND MIND: The Holy Ghost, The Love of God and the Grace of God. With them we can cry out Abba Father, with all three we can relate to Him(God) as our Father. Jesus the Son of God had all three. We the children of God, became His children by having all of them. (Romans 8:14-17)


May the GRACE OF GOD BE WITH YOU , MAY HIS LOVE BE WITH YOU AND MAY YOU HAVE SWEET FELLOWSHIP WITH HIS HOLY GHOST NOW (TODAY) AND FOREVER MORE. Don’t go a day without them.

At one point in time, these individuals feel like quitting.
