Personality may be viewed as consisting of stable characteristics that explain why a person behaves in a certain way.
Many people would love to to know why Hitler did the things he did. Many of us would love to understand why some people in society, just don't seem to get the basic principles of sanitation. Some would also love to understand why countless innocent kids, who never ever bothered anyone in their schools committed suicide. We would also love to know why the world is in a state of turmoil, and why there is so much injustice in it among other things.
Social scientists will tell us that there are many factors that make up an individual's personality; factors ranging from a person's ethnic origin, culture, early family experiences and so forth. However, when filtered, we would realize that there are only two major factors that make up individuals: love and hate. No matter what part of the world a person lives in, he or she can and will only be shaped by these two major factors.
Not to sound like I am picking on any group of individuals, but, when we go to the prisons, randomly select a group of prisoners and draw up timelines of their lives from birth to the day they were sentenced, we will notice beyond a shadow of doubt that the hate-filled experiences in their lives radically outweigh all the love most of them ever received.
It will be easy to point fingers at their dad, or mum who was never there for them due to a myriad of reasons, or a bully who hurt or molested them some time in their lives, or the kids in their schools or neighborhood who made them feel like losers, or that guardian who never supported their dreams; all due to the same reasons from their own past lives. Again, it will be very easy to point fingers at some people for turning many innocent kids into people they never wanted to become, but we must bear one thing in mind; we are not alone on this earth. We are here with angels and demons who also play a role in everything that pertains to our life, and though we may not see them with our natural senses or totally understand them through years of formal education, they play a major role in the turn of many events. Thankfully, we have a sure guide to understanding how these beings affect our lives: the Word of God.
Paul the apostle tells us in Ephesians 6:12-13 that, "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood [our kind], but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand." Our inability to stand after numerous battles, gives them an upper hand over our lives: we are transformed into the kind of people we never wanted to become. This is after they have a gained a foothold in our lives as a result of our anger, which is usually a bi-product of these (spiritual) battles. This is why Paul the apostle again said in Ephesians 4:26-27, "Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil."
